Vidtonic Introduces IPTV Kit Powered By Android™ At 2011 International CES

Tired of waiting for that SDK for Google TV?  Want to get cooking on an Android app made for a TV screen?.  Vidtonic, maker of a homebrew kit for developers to do just that has announced on their website that they will be showing off an IPTV Kit at the CES.

This homebrew kit will allow you to tinker and hack to your hearts content with your app built for the big screen!  Here is a rundown of what the homebrew kit is:
  • A hardware/software platform kit designed for Android  developers to bring their applications to the TV screen.
  • Includes television housing, cables, 1080p LCD panel in various sizes, power supply and a motherboard using an ARM/DSP microprocessor solution.
  • Allows enthusiasts to build their own television, powered by AndroidTM.
  • Gives developers the open platform they need to write their own made-for-TV Android powered applications.
Vidtonic stated that they want to popularize the idea that Android isn't just for smartphones, and they are expecting to release the Homebrew platform in the first quarter of 2011.
Who can't wait to play around with this?
